If you are the map owner, or have admin rights on a map shared with you, you can make a copy of the map.
Here is how you do it:
Open the map and go to the menu. Choose "copy map". Your map will be copied.
The copy will now have the appendix "copy" in the map name. To give it a new name, simply write the new name in the map name.
